Respite and Carer Support
Respite care is provided to people who are unwell or those who need some extra support to recover from an illness or surgery before returning to their home. It can also give the resident a welcome break from their usual routine or give their at-home carer a rest.
Looking after a loved one in your home can be hard on the carer. The health and wellbeing of the carer is just as important, and regular short breaks are vital.
Whether you stay with us for one night or several weeks, you can expect to receive the same level of care, attention and respect our other residents enjoy and are encouraged to join in all care home activities.
Respite and carer support is offered at all four of our care homes.
Palliative Care
Enliven’s highly regarded holistic palliative care service focuses on providing comfort and quality of life, and promoting physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.
Wrapping support around residents in their final days and their grieving families is an important part of Enliven’s ethos of caring for its people.
With this in mind, Enliven provides dedicated private spaces called whānau/family rooms within three of its rest homes where families can spend quality time with their elderly loved one nearing the end of their life, share memories, provide comfort to each other and ultimately say goodbye.
Our staff are trained to provide a high standard of palliative care which includes pain management, easing distress for the family and their loved one and making sure the resident is as comfortable as possible as they transition to the end of life.
These needs are met with respect, dignity and compassion.
Short and long-term stay
Enliven offers short and long-term stays, depending on the needs of the resident and their family. Short-term stays are for those who need to recover from illness before returning to their home or to give a carer a period of respite. Long-term stays are for those who require full-time medical or nursing care.
Our short stay services allow carers to take a well-deserved break with the knowledge and reassurance that the person in their care will be well looked after.
It is very important to us that all our residents feel at home during their stay with us whether for only a few days or several weeks. They can expect to receive the same level of care, attention and respect our other residents enjoy and are encouraged to join in all care home activities.
